WHAT TO BRING TO YOUR LIFESTYLE OUTDOOR CAKE SMASH {NORTH NJ CAKE SMASH PHOTOGRAPHER}
I know the Cake smash is normally done in a studio, but I don’t have one and traditional studio photography isn’t really my style. But I do love an outdoor casual cake smash! that being said, it can be a bit trickier than doing it in a studio. We usually start the session the same as a family session and I would get some lifestyle shots of you bonding with your soon to be 1 year old and her siblings. At the end we will set up the cake and put your little one down to let them have at it. bonus if there are siblings to steal some cake at the end!
Here are some things to make the session run a bit more smoothly.
A Cake
I’m not a baker and I’m also concerned about allergies, etc. with little ones who aren’t used to cake. I will supply a cake stand, and a blanket for them to sit on, but I do not supply the cake. Also if it’s warm out, the cake might get a little melty or if there are fancy decorations, be warned that they could get smushed in the car. It has happened every time and we just roll with it. If you want a little cake topper that is fun too.
Baloons
If you would like balloons, or other props it would be best if you brought them with a little anchor weight.
a change of clothes
some people will start out in one outfit and then change into something else for the cake smash, maybe a tutu or a little suspenders outfit. Or if you want them to stay in the same outfit for the smash, you might want to bring pajamas for the ride home.
Wipes
I will try to bring some wipes but if your little one has sensitive skin or needs a special kind of wipe, you might want to bring them.. I mean you probably will have them anyway but it’s worth mentioning.
Bug Spray
This is probably a given with any warm weather session but bugs can be an issue, especially if there is sweet cake around.
