bad Nerves @ Pier 17 Nyc on 10/12/2024

I’ve only recently discovered the band Bad Nerves and within one day of hearing their music, I was singing along to most of their songs. Bad Nerves are a British punk band that have a way of combining syncopated rhythms and catchy melodies at super fast speeds that is just insanely catchy.

On October 12th, a gorgeous 70 degree fall day, Bad Nerves opened for Nothing but Thieves on the Pier 17 rooftop with the most amazing view of the Brooklyn Bridge as the backdrop. The air smelled like a mix of Le Labo Santal 33 and $20 margaritas. The crowd, in typical NY fashion, was serving vibes of disinterest and being too cool to let loose. Most of the people around me were there to see NBT and had not heard of Bad Nerves and although they were slow to warm up, I could tell that by the end of the show, the band had many new fans. Especially after the lead singer, Bobby Nerves, came off the sage and got into the crowd to get everyone fired up about halfway through their set.

Bad nerves played a mix of songs from their first Self titled album as well as their new album “Still Nervous”. To me, seeing this band feels like I got to travel back in time to see the Clash perform. They are just effortlessly cool and do everything you would expect a punk band to do from interacting with the crowd to jumping and flying all over the stage. I’m really excited to see what the future holds for Bad Nerves because I think they are amazing and one of the most talented groups out there.

photos below were all taken with a point and shoot camera from the crowd.
